Merger and Acquisition Activity Heats Up, with Differentiated Strategic Layouts

In March 2026, Henkel completed two strategic acquisitions: $1.4B for OLAPLEX (U.S. high-end hair care brand with 319k Chinese followers) to fill high-end gaps, and €190M for Not Your Mother’s to strengthen North American presence. In Oct 2025, China’s Joy Group acquired Italy’s Foltene, a brand with anti-hair loss patents and medical-grade wig tech, sold in 30+ countries. Joy focuses on tech/category extension, contrasting Henkel’s market share strategy, reflecting Chinese enterprises’ shift to quality+technology.
